Retirement Homes
This beautiful home located in the heart of the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts was built in 2002 by our builder-dealer in the area to serve as a model and home for their family. Mike and Lynn Shiels of Shiels Builders chose the OakMeadow design within the Barn Series of our SmartWood™ pre-designed timber frame homes because of its classic New England lines and open floor plan.
As you can see, Mike is an exacting craftsman and Lynn, who functions as the design specialist within their company, has an eye for mixing traditional with modern elements and producing a very appealing style. The principal purlin timber frame, executed in southern yellow pine, is complimented by gorgeous finishes including chestnut floors, soapstone countertops, custom douglas fir trim, and oil-rubbed-bronze hardware.

Located in the Green Mountains of Vermont, this classic timber frame home was executed in Pennsylvania red oak of spectacular quality. The homeowners chose Woodhouse® because we specialize in red oak of an exacting nature and they wished the frame to compliment their collection of Stickly furniture and arts and crafts décor.
Most mountain home sites accommodate a walkout basement and this example boasts a lower level eastern white pine timber frame. A garage was designed to blend with the countryside as an old Vermont dairy barn. The SIP connector, rooflines designed for snow management, upsizing of timbers for snow load, massive window wall to capture sweeping views of Mount Mansfield, and protected entrances are all examples of the Woodhouse® expertise in mountain and ski timber frame home design and execution.

Woodhouse® is located a short commute from the beautiful Finger Lakes of Upstate New York where many of our timber frame homes have been built on the cliffs overlooking the deep glacial lakes of this region (and where our President / owner lives in a SmartWood™ model).
When visiting Woodhouse®, it is quite likely that you will receive the benefit of a tour of any number of these homes. We have built literally hundreds of timber frame lake homes. The photos in this gallery section are a combination of 3 homes and a beach house that include 2 eastern white pine timber frames, a fantastic Hammerbeam timber frame fabricated in douglas fir, and a red oak timber frame located in the Carolinas.

We have built homes on ski resorts all over the country, from Sunday River, Maine to Big Bear, California. Covered decks, heated patios, ski and boot room complete with boot warmer trees, snow grates, multiple kid rooms with double bunk beds, boys and girls bathrooms, recreation areas for children and adults, and large kitchens to mass produce the big breakfasts that fuel that skiing energy are all part of the Woodhouse® approach to designing and fabricating your ski retreat timber frame home.
