A SmartWood™ timber frame package is the answer to concerns about "too much wood" - you don't have stacks of logs everywhere; shrinkage and settling - there is none; insulating values and so-called "thermal mass" - our insulating system will out-perform any log or other system, hands-down, no two ways about it; maintenance of the log exterior - you can use any type of siding you want - no worry about sealing and treating your logs; and, resale-ability of a timber frame log home - a buyer will have none of the concerns that go with a log home.

*Note: There are many ways to reduce the cost of a timber frame package by selling lesser quality materials and/or systems. We refuse to cut corners by using either sub-standard materials or inappropriate systems just to provide you with a lower cost. PRE-DESIGNED & ENGINEERED— Importantly, all SmartWood™ timber frame packages are pre-designed and engineered for the efficient and economical use of the timber frame materials. The sizes of each piece of the timber frame are designed for optimum load-carrying capacity.
We use structural insulating panels (SIPs) for all exterior walls and roofs - not some of the cheaper and/or more labor intensive options - providing you with stronger walls and roof, and an easier system to install and finish.
The SIP (Structural Insulating Panel) enclosure system is designed for the optimum ratio of cost to R-value.
SIPs are the secret to making the most comfortable and energy efficient interior environment.
We include 1/2" blue-board (a better grade of drywall) for application to the exterior of the timber frame, prior to the installation of the SIPs. This is the most cost effective way to enclose a timber frame.
Exterior windows and doors are designed to provide ideal access, egress, outside light and views. We use Andersen™ windows and patio doors and Therma-Tru™ entrance doors - some of the best products available. Importantly, these brands are readily available throughout North America and many foreign countries in case you want to make changes to your timber frame home in the future.
